What We Do
Since its inception, FHRD has built a strong, steady reputation as the natural home for human resources professionals in Malta through the various programmes and events organised by the Foundation. The association organizes a wide selection of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) courses, Accredited programmes, the Annual HR Conference and Trade Exhibit and the number of networking events. In 2000, the Foundation signed an exclusive agreement with the Centre for Labour Market Studies within the University of Leicester to offer its world-class, research-intensive HR programmes to local students. This unprecedented partnership has proved highly fruitful and successful, granting Maltese students the opportunity to immerse themselves into their chosen area of specialisation and become leading practitioners as a result. The stastistics faithfully concur: in the last decade, most of the HR professionals which graduated in the HR discipline were alumni of one of the study programmes of this centre. Another agreement, formalised in 2012, consolidated this upward trend, and introduced the School of Business and School of Psychology courses to further eager cohorts.
In 2010, the Foundation launched its first HR vocational training programme accredited at MQF Level 4. The HR Competency Certificate, a completely homegrown course, offers a new opportunity for local individuals – who already boast experience in the workplace specific to HR – to follow a competency-driven programme strategically designed for the local environment. Since then, the number of accredited courses on FHRD’s résumé has expanded and presently includes MQF Level 5 awards, with Leadership and Training the Trainer to name a few. Currently, FHRD offers bespoke training programmes as well as management consultancy services for its members and the industry at large.
In 2017 FHRD has signed an agreement with the UK’s number one Arts University, Falmouth University. Originally founded as Falmouth School of Art in 1902, today Falmouth University is one of the world’s leading international specialist creative institutions. It is one of the few universities offering the full range of creative subjects. Falmouth University has been judged by The Sunday Times to be the UK’s No. 1 Arts University for three years running (2015-2017), top 5 University for Marketing related subjects by the Guardian University Guide 2017, and leading University for creative scene by Which? University Student Survey 2016. Some 97% of Falmouth students are in employment or further study six months after graduating.
