Our first event for this year will be in partnership with the University of Malta. Malta University Press has just published Malta and its Human Resources: Management and Development Perspectives, a 550-page text that looks comprehensively and critical at the contemporary Maltese economy, with its migrant workforce, high female participation rates, and a record tempo of job mobility. The book satisfies a long-felt need by offering this insightful window on the contemporary state of the Malta labour market. Its 28 authors, involving scholars and practitioners in their respective fields, have penned 21 chapters that take a serious and sober look at the nature of the HR function and how it is today playing out in the various sectors of the Maltese economy: from i-gaming to health, from tourism to construction, from manufacturing to finance. The text is edited by Godfrey Baldacchino, Vincent Cassar and Joseph G. Azzopardi, all UM academics.
FHRD has invited the 3 intrepid co-editors to present their recent work, flag its main outputs, and address its contribution to the state of contemporary HR practices in Malta. This will be followed by a 'Question and Answer' session, open to the floor.
Copies of the book will be available for purchase (price: 40 euros) and its editors are willing to sign copies.
