Dr Anne Marie Thake B.A. (Hons), (Melit.), M.Sc. (Manchester), Ph.D. (Bath) is a lecturer, Head of Department within the Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy and is a specialist in human resource development and social and policy sciences. Her main interests are in public affairs, leadership, graduate employability, talent management, training and performance management. She published a book entitled “ Graduate Employability Skills in Malta” and has been invited to deliver sessions by the University of Coimbra, Portugal and University of California, Irvine, USA.
Prior to reading for her PhD, Dr Thake worked in different economic sectors namely, the Office of the Prime Minister, BOV plc and was the HR manager for Planning Authority, Alf. Mizzi & Sons (Marketing) Group and Deloitte. Dr Thake has over 25 years’ experience in HRM issues, including recruitment, performance management and developing employees in public and private organisations. At the start of her career, she worked in the European Parliament – Dirctorate General for research – Luxembourg related to performance management.
Dr Thake has written HR documents and was primarily instrumental in drafting a HR Policy and Strategy Plan for Malta. She was appointed on the Commission to report on the post-secondary and tertiary Education Government Funding. Dr Thake sat on other committees including the Commonwealth and Fellowships Board and the MGSS. She is also an NCFHE assessor of educational and training programmes and has participated in EU projects. She provides HR services to companies.
